KENTUCKY NEW ERA LOCAL SATURDAY - SUNDAY, SEPT. 12-13, 2009
The Hopkinsville Rotary Club recently awarded $1,000 scholarships to 59 students to pursue post-secondary education, the club announced in a news release. The scholarship money was raised during the annual Rotary Auction, which will commemorate its 60th anniversary next year.
The scholarships were awarded to residents of or graduates of high schools in Christian County. “The dollars raised by Rotary go right back to our community in the best investment possible — students seeking to better themselves through education,” club president Walker Thomas said in a news release.
Students considered for the scholarships must have a grade point average of at least 2.5.
